Brighton Rock

A Held your interest. Intriguing camera angles, images etc. Liked the fact that the main characters are relatively unknown.
A
A Excellent film. Theatre Royal is a better venue. More central.
A Powerful and absorbing. Screen rather small. Comfy seats!
A Brilliantly shot. Great ending...
A Very good cast. Good use of camera
A Atmospheric, captured 60s Brighton. Well acted.
B Good – but would be hard to beat the old version.
B I think the room was not dark enough. I struggled to focus on the picture.
B Not what I expected – not usually a fan of “gang” movies but enjoyed this. I love seeing more British films.
B Translated into the 60s better than I expected. Brilliant music. Not quite as sinister as the original or the book, but an excellent re-make.
B Interesting film – + good to see the remake.
Venue excellent and comfortable – but rather light during film. Theatre Royal more central for transport.
B Like new venue.
B
B Well worth seeing. A good addition to the schedule. Provoked an interesting discussion not sure if I liked it
B Beautifully made. Feel pretty nauseous now though!
Environment distracting – couldn’t quite get absorbed in the film.
B Aagh. Relentless. Great cast. No let up in tension and great soundtrack. Kept it going as well. Bit too long for me! Did they change the story too?
B Perhaps not as good as original film, but great story.
B
B Interesting to compare with Richard Attenborough version, not quite as good.
B Comfortable theatre but if full sight lines to screen could be difficult. Good well-filmed film.
B
B
B Projection quality?
B I found the sound quality was a little muffled. The seats here are nor offset so you have a head right in front of you – and if you sit right up you block the person behind. Even using the hearing-aid loop I could not follow the dialogue. But apart from this I thought the film was probably very good!!
B/C Enjoyed it, despite its heaviness! As to venue – the green lights for exits were really ruining the picture for me. It meant the darker scenes weren't as clear as they should have been. Not sure what the solution is!
C
C A bit too grim for me.
C Excellent acting and sets! Should have stayed closely to Graham Greene's original.
C Auditorium is a bit bright. Beggars can't be choosers
C Venue comfortable but room seemed rather light and sound somewhat low and unclear.
C
C
C Venue needs to be darker please.
C
C I found the sound hard to follow for the first half an hour. But the direction was very good. Also the acting.
D Sound quality not good. Not a particularly good film.
D
D Found the acoustics diffficult.
D Helen Mirren looked a million dollars but could not compensate for an average film. Nice shot of the starlings and a fantasy Gothic one of the Palace Pier. John Hurt was totally wasted and I expect he was in the Metropole at the end. Preferred Dickie Attenborough but the acid in the face livened(??) up the ending. Broken bannister preferant(??) to stick of rock for Spicer's demise.
