Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

A Very moving in parts. Had heard a lot about this film. Thanks for giving us a chance to see it in Wakefield.
A/B I really enjoyed it, but I'm not sure why... ? I'll go and read up on it!
B I liked it – but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I did like the 'sounds' of the film – even though sometimes they were physically unpleasant/disturbing.
B Fascinating film must look into some Thai mythology.
B Not sure if I understood it.
C Mystifying.
C Difficult to follow.
C Baffling, then increasingly charming and compelling.
C Slow, enigmatic, strange. Mixture of the natural and the mundane.
C Curious mixture of Buddhism, mysticism, ghosts. Very slow, some beautiful photography. Background “music” sometimes irritating. Not quite sure what to make of it.
C Beautiful. Went on a bit.
C Well. I suspect I am unequipped to appreciate the finer points. Although my uncle was a frog. A little bit too long but quite fun really.
C Bit slow.
C I can't pretend to have understood all the film, but I very much liked the photography and scenery. Maybe it's where we were sitting, but the background sound effects were much too loud.
C/D An interesting series of shots – some very long and over sustained like a series of stills; intriguing especially towards the end but always short of a resolution – perhaps because it tried to mix naturalism with surrealism.
C/D A strange one – alternative cultures are interesting, but this felt rather long to watch!
D Found it incoherent.
D
D Beautiful photography – excellent sound. Some shots lasted too long.
D Sound track an endurance! Film, very long “takes”
E Oh good at last a real Marmite of a film – I hated it. Too weird – too slow – obviously need to know more about Thai culture. AND the sound track was horrible!!
E Didn't understand this film. Which were the past lives he recalled?
E What? Was that about?
E EXTREMELY VERY DIFFERENT
E Too deep for me! Soundtrack often overbearing.
U Wonderful photography. Hopeless story. Difficult to rate.
U Could not stop watching but got a little bit lost
U Incomprehensible but possibly thought-provoking.
U Don't know!
U Greatly weird. Watching a dream
U Dunno – nice to look at though. Certainly enjoyed it.
U No idea! Sorry. Could be about reincarnation....
